Thankful for Health

November 2008
My friend, Tina, had just given me a haircut.

Thanksgiving Day 2009
I was in my running gear for a "fit before feast" run.

November 2010

Two years of dieting has paid off, but I still have another 10 pounds or so that I'd like to lose.

Thanksgiving

The McCoy men are pretty lucky to have us ladies.  We are fantastic cooks!  Everything was so good that I ate too much.  I'll now be detoxing for the rest of the weekend.

Give Thanks

for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

Residency Interview #1

David had his first residency interview on Friday, Nov. 19.  The process started with a residency dinner at a nice Mexican restaurant the evening before his interviews.  He had to report for interviews early on Friday morning.  The traffic on the highway was really bad and it took him over an hour to get there.
David interviewed with 5 people that day and didn't finish until 4pm.  While he was being interviewed, I was sitting on pins and needles all day.  It was a long, but exciting day for both of us.  We celebrated the first interview being over by having a nice meal at Red Rock.  It was so wonderful to have a date night.   Hopefully it will be a celebration dinner date that we'll never forget.
Interview place #1 is where David has been working for the past 4 weeks for his away rotation.  The rotation was like a month long interview for both parties.  It is definitely where we want to officially end up.  We're ranking this program #1 and are praying they'll do the same.  They have such a fantastic program and it would be great for David to be a part of that.  March 17 cannot come soon enough!

Baby Fever

The Holidays always make my baby fever shoot through the roof.  Thinking about all the traditions I could share with a child, my own child, get me way too excited.  I should make a list of all my ideas.  I hope I still have the energy when those times finally arrive.

I guess the hubster and I should make the most of another kid-less Holiday Season while we still can.  Time is ticking which can only mean we're getting closer to that day. Instead of saying we're waiting 8+ years, I now get say we're waiting 2-3 more years.  At least nobody can say we rushed on the family thing.... hehee...

Money Tree

I could really use a money tree right now.  Not for me personally, but for my school.  There is so much I'd like to do for my program (which benefits the students), but the funds aren't there.

Pie

I couldn't wait for Thanksgiving.

I baked my first Pumpkin Pie tonight.  David loved it!

David and I went to the grocery store today.  They had all their shelves stocked with seasonal goodies.  Let's just say that we came home with more than what was on my list.  Oops!

Since David loves desserts, it does work out in his favor.

I obviously purchased pumpkin.  And yes, I tasted the pie I baked and it was good.  Now I have to figure out what I'm going to do with the rest.

We also purchased cranberries.  I think I'll be baking a cranberry pie in the near future.

One.Big.Bad. = Candy Cane Tootsie Pops.......  This is THE ONE candy I can't seem to resist.  I bought a bag and am actually enjoying one right now.  I'll have to put some limits on those tasty treats and only have them on the weekends until Christmas.  I can't let bad habits start creeping back in my life.

On a positive note, I'm now back to the weight I was before the school year started.  I had gained about 4 pounds.  I'd like to lose another 5 before Christmas, so I can splurge a bit on Christmas Eve and Day, but we'll see if that'll happen.  Maybe I should stay out of the kitchen and just live on protein bars until then.

Reminiscing

Every now and then I remember that my St. Louis adventure wasn't all bad. There were many things I did enjoy.
As I was at Starbucks today doing some research for lesson plans and my upcoming program, I was wondering what I would be doing if I were still back in STL. Well, I decided that if I were in STL it would have been a good day to go to Bread Co (aka Panera) to hang out. Now, David and I never ate there, but often enjoyed going just to use their free wifi and pretending to like their icky coffee as we sipped on it. It was a nice place to go if we needed to get out of our apartment for a bit.
The Autumn season was another St. Louis favorite of mine. It was absolutely breathtaking. The colors of the leaves were so vibrant. I would often take Ethan for long walks and he would almost get lost in all the leaves. He'd hop through them like a bunny and was a little terrified by the crackling noise the leaves would make.
I miss my dear friend, Rachel. At this time last year we'd meet up regularly and go on long walks. We talked about anything and everything. After our walks, we'd often end up grabbing a bite to eat or getting some coffee at Starbucks. I miss being able to hang out with her these days.
I could go on and on about the things I liked in St. Louis. It's just that the bad outweighed the good for me there. I will never understand all the bad luck we had or why there was constantly a black storm cloud over our heads all the time. I do know that it makes me appreciate being back in OKC that much more. We love our apartment, I LOVE my school, and we are happy. We're the happiest we've been in several years. It feels really good. I pray we will be able to stay here.

By Kids

My students say the silliest things.....

"You need to have a kid because you have fun ideas.
You'd be the best mom!"
- 3rd grader

"Do you have a baby in your tummy?"
- Kindergardener
"No, I'm just have a big belly because I ate too much for lunch.
Plus, I'm wearing a big sweater that adds to that area."
- Me
